WOF Slovakia is an official member of the international organization World O-Shu Federation since 2011. However, the first contacts began in 2009, when Kobudo Kai members were looking for traditional Kobudo. They began to cooperate with the Czech Okinawa Karate and Kobudo Federation, and this cooperation continues until these days.
In 2010, Kobudo Kai representatives met Sensei Chinen for the first time and immediately changed their direction of practice. In 2011, they traveled to the European Gasshuku in
Thonon Les Bains, where they applied for WOF membership. Sensei Chinen personally granted them this. In 2013, Sensei Igor Vakoš was graded for 3rd Dan Okinawa Kobudo and
became the official Chief Instructor of WOF in Slovakia.
Today, WOF Slovakia´s goal is to spread the martial art of Okinawa Kobudo, as well as Okinawan culture and philosophy throughout Slovakia. We believe in what we do and strive to preserve this functional and unique martial art.
